The History of Jack Estate

Respect the past, create the future

Jack Estate was established in July 2011 by a Melbourne family with extensive interests in agriculture and horticulture. The winery's foundation was the acquisition of the historic Mildara Blass winery, originally built in 1963. With a legacy spanning more than 60 years, Jack Estate has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades, emerging as a modern, efficient, and high-standard winemaking facility. It stands proudly in one of South Australia’s and Australia’s premier grape-growing regions.

Jack Estate takes pride of place in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region. The word Jack is of ancient Celtic origin meaning ‘healthy, strong and full of vital energy’. This encapsulates the family’s century long connection with the land, and the very essence of grape growing and winemaking.

Jack Estate is passionate and dedicated to growing and producing premium quality wines that express the very best of Coonawarra’s prime terra rossa soil. Our philosophy is to practise and respect traditional winemaking techniques to
create premium wines for wine lovers to enjoy long into the future.

Although we are a relatively young winery, we are steeped in history with the winery we operate being the old Mildara site built in 1963! We are a small team and we are proud to work on the historical site. This further allows us to have complete control over the winemaking processes and be able to adapt what we produce easily.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent winemaking services, whilst maintaining traditional techniques and upholding high level food standards with our HACCP accreditation.
